Q: What do you recommend for sunscreen?

A: I founded SkinHealth 14 years ago when my sister died of melanoma, the most deadly form of skin cancer, at the age of 40. 

I recommend a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen that has a SPF of 30 or more, and contains at least 5% micronized zincoxide to protect against UVA rays, which are the most dangerous rays. Zinc oxide creates a phy
sical barrier to the radiation and deflects it from your skin. 

It is very important to read the label on sunscreens to determine the amount of zinc oxide in the product. If the percentage of zinc oxide is not listed, then there is most likely not enough in the product to be effective. 

At SkinHealth we have created a variety of sunscreens that have a high SPF and contain between 5% to 17 zinc oxide. These are invisible on the skin, chemical-free, water resistant, and unlike many other sunscreens, contain no fragrance and are not greasy. Powerful anti-oxidants, such as green tea, have also been added to SkinHealth sunscreens for extra protection against free-radical damage caused by UV rays.
