Where to Begin
SkinHealth® products will keep you looking fresh & vibrant at any age! I have grouped our products into categories according to the results you will obtain from each.
The categories in "THE BASICS" section are items you have probably used your entire life and will continue to use: cleansers, moisturizers, and sunscreens. The "REJUVENATORS" section contains categories that will improve the health and appearance of your skin.
Our skin is our largest organ. Think of these categories as the nutrients this organ needs to maintain the tone, elasticity, texture, firmness, and glow that comprise beautiful skin. For the maximum benefit, you should be using a product from each of the categories.
For people who don't have the time or inclination to apply all the products individually, we have created our Cellular Renewal Complex that combines four of the categories in one.
Where to begin for beautiful skin.
Daily skin maintenance is as easy as one, two, three. Pick one product from each of these three categories, and you'll cover the basics–beautifully.
Scrub your soap habit! A bar of Soap contains harsh detergents that strip vital oils from the skin. Soap-free cleansers leave skin feeling soft and supple, not tight and dry.
The only way to hydrate thirsty skin. Even acne-prone complexions need a moisturizer to counteract the side effects of drying, irritating acne preparations.
Broad-spectrum sunscreen, the healthiest thing you can do for your skin, it's a must for all seasons—not just summer. But not any sunscreen will do. To block both UVA rays and UVB rays, and prevent photoaging and skin cancer, you need a broad-spectrum sunscreen containing zinc oxide, titanium dioxide or avobenzone. And a word to the sun-wise: the SPF rating refers to UVB protection only. Even a high SPF doesn’t guarantee protection from dangerous UVA rays. Make sunscreen your lifelong friend, and it will prolong your skin's life and, very possibly, yours.
Most of us yearn for something more than the basics: we want smoother, fresher, younger-looking skin. To turn back the clock on skin damage and aging, we recommend adding at least one product from each category.
A combination of our anti-aging products used in your daily routine will give the best result.
Think of it as a liquid “buff in a bottle” that retexturizes and refines your skin. Studies show that glycolic acid dissolves the “glue” that binds dead cells on the skin's surface. This dulling debris clogs pores, forms fine lines, and worsens the appearance of wrinkles and brown spots. But exfoliate it away with glycolic acid, and you'll reveal clearer, smoother, more evenly toned skin. Daily exfoliation also allows other SkinHealth products to penetrate more deeply into your skin, thus maximizing their effectiveness.
Topical antioxidants Vitamin C and Green Tea are vital nutrients which feed skin its most potent weapon against “photoaging”. During the photoaging process, sunlight and pollutants unleash “free radicals” that break down skin, causing fine lines, wrinkles, and slackening. Research shows that antioxidants disarm free radicals and repair collagen, undoing damage deep inside the skin. The result? Skin becomes more toned, fine lines disappear, and wrinkles fade. What's more, future photoaging is kept at bay.
Did you know that slow cell regeneration is one reason skin becomes lined and discolored as it matures?
Retinol, a topical form of vitamin A, is the gold standard in ramping up cell renewal, literally reversing skin's aging process. Prescription formulations (like Retin-A and Renova) and their non-prescription cousin (Retinol) increase cell turnover to produce smooth, evenly colored, younger-looking skin. Peptides. As we age, biological communication diminishes within the skin, resulting in decreased collagen production and accumulation of degraded elastin fibers.
Peptides, which are protein fragments, function as messengers in the skin, allowing the epidermis and dermis to more efficiently communicate. Certain peptides have been shown to reduce wrinkle volume and decrease wrinkle depth by stimulating the natural rebuilding process without irritating the skin, while other peptides work to tone and tighten the skin.
